On September 15th, our group gathered at Allamuchy State Park for a day in nature. We embarked on a 1.5-mile hike to the lookout point along the Highlands Trail. Upon arrival, I distributed journals, prompts, and sit pads to enhance our experience.
We dedicated time for introspection, contemplating the following prompts:
Choose a sticker and journal why it resonates with you.
When do you feel most alive?
If you had one full day to yourself without any responsibilities, who would you choose to spend it with and what would you do?
What do I need right now, more than anything else?
After hiking for an additional 3 miles, the group reached the waterfall viewpoint. This day allowed participants to connect with others who shared similar interests in nature, fostering a sense of community. The natural surroundings presented us with the trail's challenges, encouraged mindful movement, evoked a sense of wonder, and offered a tranquil setting for reflection.
What the participants said:
"I was able to unplug and let go from the moment we started out and Audrey said I didn't need to have the trail map on my phone because she knew the area by heart. Having three hours of uninterrupted and easeful connection to nature, myself, and good companions was such a gift. Thank you so much Audrey."
Join me for my next all-day Mindfulness Petite Retreat Hike on Sunday, November 3rd.
Location is TBD, but will be within Morris, Sussex, and Warren County areas.
