OMG I gained 5 pounds on Thanksgiving!

I call Bullshit.

Holidays fast approaching, the messages “don’t blow all your progress on the holidays” will be in full swing.

💜I am here to tell you, YOU WILL NOT BLOW ALL YOUR PROGRESS IN ONE DAY. You do not gain muscle or fat that quickly.

The facts are:

➡️Eating a meal with a high carbohydrate load, you will retain water, because our bodies need water to process the carbs.

➡️Eating a high sodium content meal, may lead to retaining water and feeling bloated.

➡️THIS water is what you will see on the scale after a holiday.

Pro tips for special occasions:

✅️Hydrate and drink water before your meal: will it help with hydration, and it will take some space up in your stomach, making you feel fuller before you eat too much.

✅️Put your fork down and pause during your meals. It can take your brain up to 20 minutes to send the “FULL” signal.

✅️Go for a short walk after your meal, it aids in digestion, reduces blood sugar, helps with bloating (Ayurvedic principles prescribe light walks after meals)

✅️DO NOT PUNISH yourself the day after over exercising or restricting eating. This is what leads to metabolic damage over time.

✅️ENJOY yourself. Practice mindfulness, be thankful for the time you have with your loved ones.

✅️Invest in your health, hire a coach to help you navigate through all the bullshit nutrition and fitness advice on social media, ask for a resume, and references. If an offer seems too good to be true, it probably is.
